In Memoriam Henry Vogel
Henry Vogel was born in Tacoma, Washington, on May 1, 1940. After graduating from Fife High School in 1958, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. After being discharged from the Marine Corps in April of 1962, Henry moved to Houston, Texas.
With this move to Houston, Henry was offered the opportunity to work for several financial institutions from 1963 to 1989. These financial institutions include Pinemont Bank (now part of Amegy Bank), Texas Commerce Bank (now part of Chase), and Allied Bank (now part of Wells Fargo). While working for Texas Commerce Bank, Henry decided to attend college. He began studying at the University of Houston-Downtown. In 1981, he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance.
After working in the financial industry for several years, Henry decided to take on a new endeavor in the insurance industry. In April 1990, Henry began working with MetLife as a sales agent. In a short period of time, Henry was mentoring several of the agents in his branch. Though he enjoyed the work and the people he mentored, Henry longed for the ability to offer his customers more than just the products MetLife had available. This desire led Henry to open Evergreen Financial Group, which has become EFG Insurance Agency, Inc. (EFG).
Outside of running EFG, Henry is involved with several chambers and clubs, including the Houston Intercontinental Chamber of Commerce, the Greenspoint Lions Club, the Aldine Optimist Club, and through EFG’s membership, the East Montgomery Chamber of Commerce, The Conroe Chamber of Commerce, the Lake Houston Chamber of Commerce, the East End Chamber of Commerce, and the Spring Klein Chamber of Commerce. He is also active in the community by giving back to those in need, whether it’s packing and delivering holiday meals, donating school supplies, or just donating his time to help those less fortunate.
